New Lincoln Warranty
Buying a new vehicle often means you are looking at numerous features, colours and styles, and models. However, you may not think about your warranty at this time. Even though you are buying a new vehicle that should give you years with little worry, it is important that you understand your warranty if you should ever need to use it. Here is some basic information about the warranty for new Lincoln vehicles.
Basic Coverage
Under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Basic Coverage begins at the original warranty start date and lasts for 48 months or 80,000 km (whichever occurs first).
The complete vehicle is covered under this Basic Coverage. Components not covered are listed in the Warranty Guide, under What is Not Covered Under this New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Hybrid Unique Component Coverage
Under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, certain unique Hybrid components are covered against defects in factory supplied materials or workmanship for 8 years or 160,000 km whichever occurs first from the original warranty start date.
Corrosion Coverage
Corrosion coverage begins at the original warranty start date and covers body sheet metal panels against corrosion due to a defect in factory-supplied materials and workmanship. The length of the coverage depends on the type of corrosion damage:
- If corrosion causes perforations (holes) in the body sheet metal panels, the coverage extends for 5 years/unlimited distance.
- If corrosion does not cause perforations (holes), and is not the result of vehicle usage and/or airborne materials, the Corrosion Coverage is 48 months or 80,000 km (whichever occurs first).
Aluminum Body Panel Corrosion Coverage
Your vehicle's aluminum body sheet metal panels, if any, are covered for an extended Corrosion Coverage Period, which lasts for five years, regardless of distance driven. If aluminum body panels have corrosion or rust damage, and the damage is not the result of abnormal usage, vehicle accident, customer actions and/or extreme environmental conditions, the corrosion or rust damage repairs are covered for 5 years, regardless of distance driven.
Powertrain coverage
Under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the Powertrain Warranty Coverage protects certain components against defects in factory-supplied materials or workmanship for 6 years or 110,000 km (whichever occurs first) from the original warranty start date.
Powertrain Warranty covers certain components of your Engine, Transmission, Front, Rear and All-Wheel drive systems.
Safety restraint coverage
Under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, safety belts and air bag Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS) are covered against defects in factory-supplied materials or workmanship.
Safety Restraint System Coverage begins on the original warranty start date and lasts for 5 years or 100,000 km (whichever occurs first).
See your Warranty Guide for complete details.
Roadside Assistance
This program is separate from the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, begins from the original warranty start date and lasts the life of the vehicle for the original owner. Subsequent owners receive coverage that is concurrent with the 6 years or 110,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first) powertrain warranty coverage period. Service will be provided to the driver of the registered Lincoln vehicle.
Covered Services
- Road Service (labour performed at disablement site)
- Service Calls (delivery of up to 10 litres of fuel or battery boost)
- Emergency Lock-Out Service
- Towing of your disabled vehicle to your selling Lincoln dealer if within 160 km or the closest Lincoln, Ford-Lincoln or Ford dealership (one tow per disablement).
Coverage Details
You must take your vehicle to an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer for all warranty service. If your vehicle requires special training or equipment, you may have to take it to a specific dealership. The Powertrain Warranty provides coverage on the engine and certain components that may vary based on the type of vehicle you purchase.
Certain conditions that cause damage to your vehicle may not be covered by your warranty. These include damage from a collision or accident, theft or vandalism, fire, floods, or other acts of God. The warranty may not be applicable for damage caused by alterations you have made to the vehicle or incorrect or contaminated fluids or alternative fuels that may have been used.
It will also not cover you for use of non-Lincoln parts. These include lift kits, alarm systems, and other equipment designed to alter either the appearance or performance of the vehicle. The warranty doesn't cover any damage to the body that is caused by continual exposure to the elements, such as rust and fading.
Maintaining proper maintenance is critical to your warranty. If you fail to provide regular maintenance, you may void your warranty. This includes:
- Oil changes
- Cleaning of the vehicle
- Regular tune-ups as listed in your owner's manual
- Changing air or oil filters
- Tire rotation
- Replenishing or replacing fluids and lubricants
